The ban which was imposed by Ukraine on the importation of
Tomato from Turkey in 2010 due to the detection of Tuta absoluta, has been lifted according to Veterinary and
Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine.
Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine has taken off Turkey from the list of countries with a high risk to plant health from 1stÃÂ of February 2012.ÃÂ This is effectively lifting the import ban on importing Tomato from Turkey which was imposed in 2010 as consequence of detecting the Tomato miner Tuta absoluta in consignments of fresh tomato during 2010 and 2011.
The decision will lift the Turkish exporters hope of reviving the their market shareÃÂ in the Ukraine whichÃÂ represent the 4thÃÂ export market for Turkish Fruit and Vegetable exporters.ÃÂ
