Tuta absoluta in Greece

The presence of the Tuta absoluta in Greece was finally confirmed today in a communication with Dr Panagiotis Milonas of the Benaki Institute, Kifissia. Greece.
The pest was captured in pheromone baited traps placed in farms outside the cities of Prevesa and Petra. Genitalia of the captured samples were checked and the identity of the species was confirmed.

Greece is the latest country in the region to have a problem with Tuta absoluta in tomato production. It could have a serious consequences on the production in this important agricultural area.
